CAVEAT to anyone I know on TikTok, MY account on their platform MIGHT be removed, because TikTok is NOT keen on ANY complaints OR criticisms… They’re THE most VAIN corporation in social media… GOD FORBID if anyone EVER criticizes them, usually to removing their accounts for BOGUS reasons…
The things I’ve seen PERSONALLY on TikTok are listed below. ANY software developer worth their money could fix ALL these glitches and errors WITHIN A WEEK.
I’ve OFFERED TikTok FREE development time, because I have over 45 YEARS of experience in ALL kinds of software systems, INCLUDING Space and DoD industry, and over 23 MAJOR top 100 companies in the U.S. and the world.
But THEY are so afraid that outsiders will learn of their NEFARIOUS practices behind the scenes, that they won’t accept help from an EXPERT.
The “glitches” we are CURRENTLY seeing for the past week or more:
BLACK screens on creators’ Live sessions
When engaging in a “battle” in a Live session, the VIEWERS can’t SEE the battle, and OFTEN can’t even see the opponent.
TREMENDOUS lag, for EVERYONE. I was supporting someone in a battle this morning, and was sending small gifts, but they NEVER showed up, AND the “coins” spent on them weren’t deducted until ALMOST 20 minutes later. This means ALL viewers cannot even TELL if they have available “coins” to gift someone!
Popup screens are ALL WHITE, with NO explanation except AFTER a couple minutes, it will say “This action is not working. RETRY”.
Viewers cannot USE the “HeartMe” function to show support for a creator, and accrue points to high levels of support. THIS hurts the creators, because TikTok uses the viewer support numbers (HeartMes) to rank and help creators ascend the ranks!
The HeartMe points accrued are for:
Watching the Live session
Sending “Go Popular” gifts to show support
ANY gifts are added to the total for that viewer for Live OR just “chat” Live sessions.
These are VITAL to the creators, and for THEM to not be working is a MAJOR HINDRANCE to all the creators AND monetization of their time and efforts!Cannot connect DIRECTLY to a Live session through “bubbles” on Inbox page.
The Inbox page shows incoming actions and direct messages, but ALSO, at the top, is a scrolling list of “bubbles” showing WHICH of the viewer’s “friends” are Live at any time. This functionality is CRUCIAL to the support of those creators.
The CURRENT process to get to a creator’s Live IS
Go to their profile page
Click on the “Live” prompt under their bio
THEN click on the ACTUAL Live prompt on the NEXT page.
What USED to be a single click on the Inbox page has NOW become a MULTI-CLICK process… BAD for Creators!!
For a TENS of BILLIONS of DOLLARS corporation, THIS level of INCOMPETENCE is UNCONSCIONABLE! And WHY do these errors NOT get corrected? Because of TikTok’s hiring practices! They PREFER keeping only recently-graduated (read INEXPERIENCED) programmers and techs, to keep THEIR costs down, NOT for the Users…
And I haven’t EVEN touched on the topic of BAD ACTORS on TikTok, and how THEY are tolerated and even SUPPORTED, because the controversy they cause MAKES MONEY for TikTok… Such as racists, homophobes, sexual predators, etc… I have PERSONALLY reported MANY of these people to TikTok, and they ALWAYS say “They are within the Community Guidelines”… BULLSHIT!!
TikTok could VERY WELL BE the next loss on the social media platforms, because they OBVIOUSLY don’t give a DAMN about their users, creators, OR platform…
